The new "Geir" named in Aalesund

The longliner “Geir” was named in its homeport Aalesund on May 16th.
With it's length of 63.0 m and beam of 13,5 m, the new “Geir” becomes the largest purpose-built pure longliner vessel in the North Atlantic fleet.

The vessel is of ST-156 XL design and is a new design development in close cooperation with the owners. The new “Geir” is the 3rd subsequent longliner of ST-design being developed for the same owner: H. P. Holmeset AS

The vessel is built at Vaagland Baatbyggeri in Norway and is the yard's build number 158.

With emphasise on obtaining the lowest carbon footprint, the vessel is having an cutting-edge hybrid propulsion system, capable of utilizing battery power, as well as diesel electric or diesel mechanic modes.

 The vessel is capable of producing a large quantity of cod and haddock fillets for the high-end market.

 The new “Geir” has an accommodation capacity of 22 persons + hospital.
