The RV SVEA delivered to SLU, Sweden

The Fishery and Oceanographic research vessel "SVEA" was in July delivered to SLU(Sveriges Landbruks Universitet), Sweden. The "SVEA" is a ST-367 design with a length of 69,5 m and a beam 15,8 m, built at Astilleros Armon in Vigo, Spain.

The vessel is built to the latest standards within marine research including underwater noise reduction according to ICES 209.  The vessel is further built for Worldwide operation but with emphasis on the Baltic waters.  The core activity for the vessel will be ecosystem studies, fish stock assessment and monitoring of water quality. 

The vessel is arranged for a total complement of 28 persons.

The vessel is arranged with a diesel electric propulsion plant comprising a fixed pitch propeller directly driven by AC propulsion motors of 2 x 1000 kW in tandem configuration.  The power plant consist of 3 generating sets with a total capacity of approx. 3500 kW.

The vessel is built with a dynamic propulsion system in compliance with DNV Dynpos AUTS notation.
