Skipsteknisk AS was founded in 1976. The company’s location in Aalesund, Norway’s leading fishing port, made it natural to focus on fishing vessels and fishermen’s need for maritime services relating to ship design and ship management.

80s

During the 1980s the company established itself as a key player in the modernisation of the fishing fleet operating in the rough and harsh conditions of the North Atlantic.

The design of innovative and modern fishing vessels for fishermen around the world is still one of Skipsteknisk’s key business areas.

90s

During the 1990s, the company began designing research vessels covering all segments of marine research, including fisheries, oceanographic, hydrography and seismic research. Skipsteknisk has designed research vessels for research institutes all over the world, and today it is recognized as a leading ship designer in the field.

During the late 1990s and early 2000s Skipsteknisk entered into the market of specialised and advanced offshore service vessels and have since designed many of the World’s leading vessels within offshore construction, diving support, platform supply and survey.

Today

Today Skipsteknisk can offer it’s clients a wide range of specialised vessel designs including wind farm service vessels, live fish carriers and coastguard and patrol vessels.

Skipsteknisk’s head office in Aalesund is located within one of the World-leading maritime clusters of ship owners, shipyards, ship designers and ship equipment manufacturers. The region is appointed Global Centre of Expertise – Maritime.

ST Group consists of headoffice in Aalesund, Norway, the electrical service company Skan-El AS in Aalesund, Norway and Skipsteknisk Engineering in Istanbul, Turkey.
